Industrial robotics specialist Yaskawa Ibérica exhibited at the IFEMA trade fair in Madrid from 7 to 9 May. The Japanese company showcased a range of innovative robot solutions for the plastics industry.

They included the MH12 robot, which was equipped with ultrasonic units for cutting and punching manufactured by Telsonic AG, with whom the company works in partnership.

According to Yaskawa, it is the versatility of this functionality in combination with automated quick-change systems that really sets it apart, because it can be used for different materials and applications, allowing its productivity to come to the fore. Sources from the company also added that the cuts that are made are of high quality and equipment maintenance is minimal.

The Skoda Octavia bumper on show at the stand to present the SONIQTWIST® torsional welding technique developed and patented by Telsonic also attracted a great deal of interest. The main benefit of the technique is its ability to weld sensors to paint-finished plastic parts gently and without leaving marks. SONIQTWIST® is also capable of much higher tensile forces than alternative methods.

In 2018, Spain produced approximately 2.3 million cars, making it the eighth largest country for automobile production in the world and the second largest car manufacturer in Europe after Germany (Germany produces a little over 5 million vehicles).

Consequently, the company's stand generated high levels of interest and the quality of visitors from Tier 1 companies and car manufacturers was excellent.
